| The second Les Paul, named 'McNasty', is a copy of the first, but done in a faded honey tan sunburst to a natural center with a mahogany neck. The electronics in this guitar were totally experimental. Gibson sent me over time, five different wiring sets and pickups which I asked them to wind and wire to my specs. This guitar ultimately wound up with a set of specially designed pickups and electronics made by a protege of Les Paul, Tom Doyle, who was a neighbor and close friend of Les Paul's. Both Les and Tom live in northern New Jersey. The head veneer was a design which I came up with and had Gibson inlay for me. Once again, you cannot see the wonderful colors in the inlays, thanks to my terrible camera technique. | |
